High Sheriff of Hull and East Riding, Mike Rice, presents £2,500 to Hull YFC
Hull YFC has been awarded £2,500 from the Tribune Trust to continue running its vital youth club, which provides a safe and supportive space for local young people.
During a recent visit, Mike Rice, High Sheriff of Hull and the East Riding, met with staff and young leaders at the youth club, hearing first-hand how the sessions are helping teenagers affected by poverty, disadvantage, and the risk of crime.
The youth club offers weekly activities such as sports, cooking, crafts, and trips, while also giving young people trusted adults to talk to about their experiences. Some members have witnessed serious crimes or faced personal trauma, and the club provides stability, confidence, and positive role models.
The grant will cover essential costs including utilities, salaries, resources, and trips, ensuring the group can continue supporting the 15–20 young people who attend each week.
Speaking after the visit, Mike Rice said:
“Hull YFC is providing a lifeline for young people, giving them a safe place to grow, learn, and build brighter futures. The work being done here is truly inspiring and makes a real difference in the community.”
Ian Dyson, Team Leader of Hull YFC, added:
“We’re extremely grateful for the support from the Tribune Trust. This funding means we can keep our youth club running and continue to be there for young people when they need us most. For many, this is the one place they feel safe, supported, and able to build positive relationships that will shape their future.”
