08:00 - 12 March 2007

E Yorks: The High Sheriffs' and Humberside Police Tribune Trust is set to launch a website for the first time in its history.

The site guides visitors through various areas including its mission, projects and fundraising.

The trust is an endowment fund, registered with the Charities Commission.

It provides grants for community safety projects and initiatives in the Humberside Police area when financial support is not available.

Through this, it also aims to improve quality of life by making communities safer and better places in which to live, work, invest and do business.

Director Geoff Ogden said he hoped the website would help people to learn more about its work and aims, as well as encourage people to make a donation.

He said: "We would like it to persuade people to consider making donations to the Tribune Trust, particularly from the business community, so we can widen our work.

"We also want to make it simple for members of the public and project heads to make applications for funding for projects that fit the aims and objectives of the trust.

"We are now funding 50 to 60 projects throughout the region, mainly linked to working with young people, diverting them from crime."
