SUCCESSFUL PROJECT MOTORS ON

A working partnership between The North East Lincolnshire Motor Project and The High Sheriffs’ and Humberside Police Tribune Trust has secured vital funding for the continuation of a very successful youth programme.

Two London based charities; The Henry Smith Charity and The Peter De Haan Charitable Trust have awarded the project grants of £43,000 and £21,000 respectively.

Project Manager, John Bell said “Having been turned down by the Lottery for the third time in as many years this funding was critical for the continuation of this very successful project. “

The Motor Project, based in King Edward Street, works with over 400 young people aged 8-16 years old and offers a wide range of practical and fun activities for young people. Thousands of youngsters have received training and many have moved on into the world of useful vocational work.

Geoff Ogden, Director of the Tribune Trust said, “The work of the Motor Project is crucial to North East Lincolnshire when there is much negative talk of anti-social behaviour and exclusion. The staff quietly gets on with their valuable work for the benefit of young people and the community. There has been little support locally and it would have been a tragedy for the project to close. Now that its immediate future is secured we hope that more local funding will be forthcoming to achieve long-term sustainability.”
