Following the successful seminar on 6 May 2008 to raise awareness of re-offending the Tribune Trust has continued to monitor and support the work of Humberside Probation Service, RAPt (Rehabilitation of Addicted Prisoners Trust) and other programmes with employers and housing associations.

At a meeting of trustees on 15 April 2009 serious concern was expressed about potential cuts to the Humberside Probation Service because of funding restrictions by the Ministry of Justice.

Such cuts would significantly hinder combined efforts to reduce re-offending and crime in the Humberside Region. 

It was resolved that the Chairman Mr Hugh Bethell should write on behalf of the Trust to the Minister of Justice the Rt Hon. Jack Straw outlining the concern of members. 

This letter was sent to Mr Straw with copies to the Shadow Minister and all local Members of Parliament.
