THE HIGH SHERIFFS' & HUMBERSIDE POLICE TRIBUNE TRUST
In Business for Safer Communities

What it means for communities

Protecting the Vulnerable
Many vulnerable people live in fear of crime, particularly the elderly and members of minority groups who have been victims or who live alone. The Trust can reduce that fear through practical help and advice.

Promoting Good Citizenship
The Trust will support schemes which challenge and assist young people to acquire new skills, build positive lifestyles and avoid turning to crime and disorder.

Tackling Drug and Alcohol Abuse
Drug and alcohol misuse is responsible for high levels of crime and disorder. Whilst there is a national strategy to educate young people about the danger of these substances, the Trust will fund projects that enhance the wider education programme.

Road Safety
The Trust has an important role in making our roads safer for everyone through schemes to improve driver standards, educate the young and provide advice to vulnerable groups about the dangers of road traffic.

Safer Communities
The Trust will support schemes which protect public buildings, businesses and homes from burglary and damage. Assistance will be provided for schemes which make travel safer, particularly for those who travel alone or at night, with the emphasis on creating a safe and vibrant community.

Sport
Promoting sport as a healthy alternative to drugs and crime will be a priority for the Trust, with the emphasis on inclusion for young people and who would normally not get the opportunity to participate.
